21 June 2019 - A busy week

Breakfast seminars, a cardiology report and a blog about a new client, all things that have made for a busy week at RMLS.  It has been challenging and fun.  The translation of a cardiology report was particularly interesting and we once again offer our congratulations to our client OneStock on the acquisition of another new client Bizzbee, which means that all three Happy Chic brands have now chosen OneStock's OMS top become omnichannel.

10 June 2019 - Bea

You may recall that earlier in the year Rebecca had the privilege of looking at the text for Bea, a book from author Nigel Womack that is being published by our client Poems and Pictures.  This week Rebecca will be looking at the proofs and it promises to be a fun week, as the book is a children's picture book about a special little bee.


4 June 2019 - Poetry competition

 What a start to the week!  Rebecca has been part of the panel helping to judge the Poems and Pictures eight line rhyme competition for the third year in a row.  The children's work is amazing and it seems to get harder to judge every year!  We look forward to hearing who the winner is.


31 May 2019 - Trade show application

This week Rebecca has been working on a trade show application for one of our clients.  We can't say much more at this stage, but we wish them all the best with their application for a place at this international trade show in the early part of 2020.


14 May 2019 - Another blog post about another new client

A couple of weeks ago Rebecca edited a blog post for our client OneStock.  Today we can reveal that it is about their acquisition of yet another client, children's group of brands √ŹDKIDS, who have chosen the OneStock Order Management system in order to become omnichannel.

10 May 2019 - #YWVA19

Rebecca had the privilege today of attending the first ever Yorkshire Women Volunteer Awards today.  RMLS are proud to support these awards.  Rebecca spoke to some of the nominees before the event started and was particularly pleased to have spoken to Candy Nicholson, who won not only the Care Volunteer Award, but the overall award.  She is a truly inspirational lady and the charity Pathway Kitchen Leeds that she set up does some amazing work with the homeless in Leeds.  Congratulations to Candy and all the winners and nominees.  We can't wait for next year!

25 April 2019 - A lovely birthday present

Today was Rebecca's birthday and she celebrated it by ... doing some proofreading!  She also received a lovely birthday present in the form of a great testimonial from our client OneStock.  Head on over to our testimonials page to read it.


19 April 2019 - Poems for the Abbey

As part of the Selby Children's Literature Festival an eight line rhyme competition was run for local schools to celebrate the 950th anniversary of Selby Abbey, which hosted the festival.  This week Rebecca enjoyed proofing graphics, which will showcase the ten best poems from the competition.


11 April 2019 - Exhibitions

27 March 2019 - Selby Children's Literature Festival

Today Rebecca enjoyed volunteering at the Selby Children's Literature Festival. organised by the Children's Literature Festival charity.  Our client Christina Gabbitas set up the charity and is a trustee of it.  It aims to make literature festivals accessible to all children and families regardless of their background.  The first of the schools' days was a great success and Rebecca enjoyed helping out.


17 March 2019 - New website page

Our client OneStock will shortly publish a new page within their website about their personal stylist solution and Rebecca has enjoyed working on the page this week.  This involved side-by-side checking and editing of a translation.


8 March 2019 - Poetry book
Having  helped to judge the 2018 poetry competition run by Poems and Pictures, Rebecca has enjoyed editing and proofing the resulting anthology of poems about the sea this week.  It will be published later this month and features Ric Lumb's wonderful illustrations again.


9 February 2019 - Publication date

We are very excited here at RMLS as The Angry Giant has been published today.  Rebecca enjoyed working on this back in November and it is wonderful to see the hardback book in print today .  It can be purchased on Amazon and at Waterstones.


6 February 2019 - Editing Bea

This is a lovely little tale about a very special bee.  Rebecca has enjoyed a first look at the text for this book, which will be published later in the year.  It is another collaboration between author Nigel Womack, illustrator Ursula Hurst and our client Poems and Pictures.  It is going to be illustrated next, so we will look forward to proofing it later in the year.


25 January 2019 - The first blog article of 2019

This week Rebecca has enjoyed working on a blog article for OneStock about their collaboration with children's  label Orchestra.  The label has selected OneStock's order management system for it's first omnichannel steps.  


24 December 2018 - Christmas rest

The remainder of December has been busy here at RMLS with more blog article work and an infographic for OneStock.  We have had a great year here at RMLS, welcoming a new client, a new author and seeing an increase in our translation work.  As we close for Christmas we would like to thank all our clients for their custom this year and wish them a wonderful Christmas and New Year.  See you in 2019!

This month Rebecca has enjoyed editing and proofing a children's rhyming picture book, The Angry Giant, by author Nigel Womack, which is being published in the new year by our client Poems and Pictures.  We can't wait for you to see the wonderful illustrations by Ursula Hurst.

17 August 2018 - Website work
This week Rebecca has been busy checking and proofreading the content for the English version of our client OneStock's website.  The work has been very interesting as it gives a behind the scenes look at the retail industry.


30 July 2018 - New client

We are very excited to announce that we have welcomed French tech company OneStock as a new client.  Initially we will be looking at the English version of their website, with other potential projects to come once this has been completed.


18 May 2018 - Poetry competition winner
Following on from last week's news, we were thrilled to hear that Antonio Mo from St Martin's Prep School in Northwood, Middlesex won the poetry competition with his poem The Bottle Fish.  it highlighted the  problem of plastic in our oceans and the risk of it entering the food chain.  Rebecca will be working on the anthology of poems comprising this year's best entries later in the year.


11 May 2018 - Poetry judging

Along with a panel of other judges, Rebecca has spent time this week helping to judge the entries for Poems and Pictures' eight line rhyme competition.  The standard of entries was really high and it has been a tough judging this year.  We look forward to the winner being announced shortly.


1 February 2018 - Reach Out, Speak Out conference

Today saw the inaugural Reach Out, Speak Out conference organised by Eliziam Events.  This important conference highlighted the work being done in the field of safeguarding children and the fact that it is everyone's responsibility.  Rebecca worked on the brochure for this event for Eliziam and had the privilege of attending today.  Speakers included Jim Gamble QPM and Anne Fine OBE.

5 January 2018 - Poetry competition launch
This week Rebecca has enjoyed supporting our client Christina Gabbitas as she puts together the materials to launch this year's eight line rhyme competition.  The topic is 'The Sea' and it is very timely in highlighting the plight of our oceans, which are being swamped with plastic.  Rebecca will look forward to helping to judge the top entries later in the spring.


24 December 2017 - Happy Christmas!

 This year has been fantastic for RMLS and we would like to wish all our clients a very Happy Christmas and New Year.  We will be taking a break over the festive period and will reopen on 2 January 2018.


19 October 2017Launch of Share Some Secrets animation
Rebecca was very privileged to attend the launch of the animation for  our client, author Christina Gabbitas', book Share Some Secrets today at Sheffiled Hallam University.  This important resource which encourages children to speak out about abuse is available free on the internet.  It was great to see the subtitles Rebecca worked on in action.

9 September 2017 - Share Some Secrets animation

This week Rebecca has had fun proofreading the subtitles for the animation of Share Some Secrets, a safeguarding picture rhyming book aimed at five to eight year olds written by one of our clients, author Christina Gabbitas.  This important animated resource will be available free on the internet following its launch at Sheffield Hallam University on Thursday 19 October.


7 September 2017 - Poetry book

The fifth anniversary edition of the poetry book, compiled from entries to the competition, which Rebecca helped judge this year, is almost complete.  It has been a pleasure editing and proofreading the poems of and seeing the effort put in by so many children.  Look out for it being published on National Poetry Day 28 September.


15 August 2017 - Eliziam Events

Rebecca has spent the last couple of weeks working on the new website for Eliziam Events, who will be hosting conferences and events, predominantly in the education sector.  Proofreading work is ongoing as more information is added for their first event on safeguarding.  Check out their website below for more details and to book onto the conference.

27 July 2017 - Poetry exhibition

A collection of poems from the national poetry competition run by Christina Gabbitas of Poems and Pictures, which Rebecca helped judge this year, is on display at BBC Radio Lancashire in Blackburn.  This year marks the fifth anniversary of the competition and Rebecca is looking forward to editing and proofreading the book over the summer.
